Rumor: Mockingjay to Start Filming in Atlanta This September?

According to Production Weekly, Mockingjay will start filming September 16th in Atlanta. In addition to this, Acting-Auditions posted a casting call for Mockingjay specifying the end filming date to be May 20th:

Color Force/C4 Productions in association with Larger Than Life Productions are in pre-production on the feature film "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1". This is the first half of the third installment in the blockbuster hit The Hunger Games trilogy, and will be filmed back-to-back with "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2". Shooting will run from September 16, 2013 through May 20, 2014 and will take place in Atlanta, GA and Boston, MA. Principal actor casting for the main roles will take place in Los Angeles with additional actor casting in Atlanta and Boston. Extras will be cast throughout the entire production in both cities.

Though this might seem pretty legitimate, keep in mind nothing is official unless Lionsgate confirms it.

Exclusive: Where Did Catching Fire Film in L.A.?

All we've had going for us in terms of production news is that Catching Fire is back to production, and we have yet to hear that things have wrapped up. Last year there was an announcement that they wrapped filming, and I expect that we will hear the same regarding Catching Fire. In March there was rumor that they were doing 2 weeks in Hawaii and two weeks in L.A, thanks to Russ Bowen. This piece of information relates to what we have found out in the past week and a half.

According to a few reliable sources, sometime in the past two weeks Catching Fire filmed in the Universal Studios backlot. This happening was extremely under the radar and secret.  During filming no one was allowed to go anywhere near the set, not even the daily tours that frequent the backlot.

So where and what were they filming? We know that if there was only one location on the backlot they filmed, it was at "Falls Lake". Typically productions have Falls Lake drained of its water and use it for all the wide open space it gives. Some witnessed the set had towers and formed a fenced in area. Seems like it could be extra reaping shots or perhaps some sort of unknown district scene. Whether this was the first or second unit is unknown.

Mockingjay to Start Filming in July?

Ah yes, Russ Bowen. In case you are unfamiliar, Russ is a reporter who sometimes finds out insider info concerning The Hunger Games franchise. Obviously, nothing he tweets is official so treat any of this information with a grain of salt.

Mockingjay shooting in July - If this is true, it means casting will start very soon. However, we are in the middle of the Catching Fire marketing campaign and in the months during apparent shooting, Lionsgate will be wrapped up in the Catching Fire press tour. So many questions, but I guess we will have to be patient and see what Lionsgate's plans truly are.

Catching Fire: 4 more weeks and over budget - I would think it's probable that the production is over budget. They are not doing pickups, they are getting shots that they did not get to last time they filmed in Hawaii. Also, 2 WEEKS IN LA?! That's a dream come true for us since we live in the L.A. area. I'd also like to assume that they would be shooting scenes shot in a sound stage and/or green screen. If this is true, this is exciting news! Can't wait to see what ends up happening with the Catching Fire production schedule.

Filming in Hawaii to End December 22nd

Looks like production in Hawaii will most likely cease on December 22nd according to HawaiiNewsNow:

NORTH SHORE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -
An almost guaranteed blockbuster has begun filming in Hawaii. Catching Fire, the much anticipated sequel in The Hunger Games trilogy, is shooting at several locations in the state between November 26 and December 22.
The star of the movie, Jennifer Lawrence, was spotted in character and armed with a bow and arrow splashing into the ocean on Oahu's North Shore Monday. Filming is also planned in Manoa.
"It's a testament to the fact that Hawaii was able to provide the location that they needed," said Donne Dawson, State Film Commissioner.  "They looked all over the state and other jurisdictions and settled on several spots here on Oahu."

Although all the set photos have been great, we sort of hope there won't be too much more (so there are more surprises for us when we see Catching Fire). We are wondering what the next stop in production is, or if they will be wrapping principal photography after Hawaii. Wrapped production means they can move onto post production!!

Catching Fire Production Schedule Opens

Remember the Fox/Lionsgate debacle concerning Jennifer Lawrence's scheduling?

The reason that the Catching Fire production schedule is so cramped is because the X-Men First Class sequel was due to start production in January. Now it seems they are pushing production to April, which if this is indeed true, means the production schedule can relax a little.

Since earlier this year, there has been a large focus on Jennifer Lawrence and two of her upcoming projects: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and X-Men: Days of Future Past. The actress torn between both sequels, reports surfaced that 20th Century Fox would be aiming for a January start which would only rush the production for Catching Fire in the process. But in the months since, Days of Future Past has hit at least one major snag while filming still continues strong for Catching Fire. Now, it seems one of the two studios have finally budged and finally makes more sense of the schedule at hand.

The Geek Files over at Coventry Telegraph (via CBM) reports that filming for X-Men: Days of Future Past has been pushed from a January 2013 start to an April date. The push allows not only for an extended filming of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire for Lawrence, but will also give Bryan Singer time to adjust the script for Days of Future Past into his vision before pre-production begins and as set begin construction.
