AUDIO: The Hunger Games Catching Fire Chocolate Taste Testing!!

Tiff and I (Courtney) were BEYOND stoked that Wild Ophelia / Vosges Haut Chocolat sent us a set of Hunger Games Catching Fire chocolate, all inspired by the 12 districts. We are big foodies, so we wanted to focus on every single district chocolate and illustrate why each particular one is delicious and perhaps give you guys an idea of which one's you might want to get at places such as WALGREENS. During our recording session my mom even ended up crashing our tasting, so we let her join because HEY if not for her we would have never gotten into The Hunger Games! So take a listen and enjoy! Here are some helpful links-- COMIN' ATCHA!!

The Coolest IMAX Poster EVER!!

At first I didn't think this was real, but then was reminded that the Official Hunger Games Facebook page posted about the release of the official IMAX poster for Catching Fire. It's epic, it's artsy, it's MIND BLOWING!!

Check out what Badass Digest had to say who released the poster:

" IMAX posters tend to be a little cooler than the normal one sheets because they're not the main marketing art for the movie. IMAX posters get to have a little bit of fun, and for many films in the last few years the IMAX poster has been the most memorable bit of art. That could be true for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. We're proud to debut this awesome, intricate, Baroque poster, which is inspired by the work of Kris Kuksi.
Kuksi, who has apparently given his blessing to this image riffing on his work, which Guillermo del Toro describes thusly:
Kris Kuksi obsessively arranges characters and architecture in asymmetric compositions with an exquisite sense of drama. Instead of stones and shells he uses screaming plastic soldiers, miniature engine blocks, towering spires and assorted debris to form his landscapes. The political, spiritual and material conflict within these shrines is enacted under the calm gaze of remote deities and august statuary. Kuksi manages to evoke, at once, a sanctum and a mausoleum for our suffocated spirit.
Fantastic Realism is the genre in which he works, and writer Jen Pappas has described Kuksi's style as “a study in timelessness and intricacies, reminiscent of lost civilizations, deities and ruins – perfectly preserved.” All of that says Panem to me, a civilization built on the ruins of an old one, using the debris of the old to make something new and strange and screwed up. "

We're just kind of in awe over this. BEST. POSTER. EVER.

Catching Fire Variety Roundup!

‘Hunger Games’: Can ‘Catching Fire’ Burn Brighter Than the Original?
Here are some highlights:
In the upcoming “Catching Fire,” Katniss returns for another fight to the death after her Hunger Games victory has sparked a rebellion in the Districts of Panem.

“She really is the reluctant hero,” Lawrence says of her character. “She’s brave, but she’s also scared, and she knows that things may wind up being far worse.”

“She’s not a diva — she’s the anti-diva,” she says of Lawrence. “One of my favorite moments is where she has the wedding dress on for the interview (scene) in ‘Catching Fire.’ It’s a big cumbersome dress, and she fell down, so we played that over and over on the monitors. There’s such a lack of pretense with Jen; she’s more than happy to laugh at herself.”

Suzanne Collins Breaks Silence to Support ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

“I’m thrilled with the work Tim Palen and his marketing team have done on the film,” Collins told Variety via email. “It’s appropriately disturbing and thought-provoking how the campaign promotes ‘Catching Fire’ while simultaneously promoting the Capitol’s punitive forms of entertainment. The stunning image of Katniss in her wedding dress that we use to sell tickets is just the kind of thing the Capitol would use to rev up its audience for the Quarter Quell (the name of the games in “Catching Fire”). That dualistic approach is very much in keeping with the books.

COVERGIRL Catching Fire Movie Program at Select Retailers

Fancy! District 5 display in a Target
My trip to the local CVS this evening ended up being WAY more awesome than normal. I poked around to see if they had a Catching Fire COVERGIRL display and lo and behold I found it! The display at this particular establishment was the "Transportation Look". It seems every display at participating retailers has a different district look featuring those specific products. Pretty nifty!

What caught my eye is the promotional program they have going on in select retailers. If you purchase more than $20 of COVERGIRL, you can receive MovieCash to go see Catching Fire for FREE! Such a deal! Needless to say, I bought it, took a picture of my receipt, and just a few minutes ago I received an email to claim my MovieCash. It was super easy!

Here's how it works. Go to a participating retailer which includes: Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Kroger, H-E-B, Giant Eagle, ShopRite, Harris Teeter, or Ulta. Locate their Catching Fire display and find at least $20 worth of COVERGIRL and SAVE YOUR RECEIPT.

Next you need to take a photo of your receipt (write stars/checks next to the COVERGIRL products as well as circling the date and time of purchase) and upload it to WWW.CGMOVIETICKET.COM, which walks you through the process.

Within 24 hours you will receive an email hopefully telling you your receipt was accepted along with a code to enter at CGMovieTicket.com. EMovieCash will then send you an email with a link to your gift certificate which you have 7 DAYS TO PRINT. Print out that sucker and present it at a participating theatre! According to the email, it is good for up to $14. Check out their LOCATOR to find out who accepts EMovieCash.

Any other questions? You can visit CGMovieTicket's FAQ or EMovieCash's FAQ

If you do manage to find one of these super cool displays, don't forget to grab the District Looks booklet they have sitting on the display. It offers advice on how to achieve each look!

#TickTock7 Reveals Relaunch of Capitol.PN and D.I.P.s

*NEW* Victors in Training clip!

Check out your district's productivity data

Looks like another beautiful partly cloudy day in The Capitol.

BIG NEWS! TheCapitol.PN relaunched today as part of the #TickTock7 moment, and it is mighty impressive. You can check everything from your new D.I.P to the weather in your district. It really is quite an upgrade from the original Capitol PN, but then again it's Catching Fire so everything is bigger and better this time around.

The coolest things we found were an extended clip from the film of the victors training (CLICK HERE TO SEE! IT'S AWESOME!) and a new official Peacekeeper twitter with the bio "It is our duty to maintain the peace within our glorious capitol. To be a citizen of Panem is to respect the law." YIKES!!

WETA Commissioned for Catching Fire!!

We are......rather speechless. In an interview with Francis Lawrence, he reveals that the VFX for the monkey mutts in Catching Fire have been done by WETA Digital.

Will this one have better CGI?
Uh, yeah. I think the effects are phenomenal. If you know the book, there’s a monkey-mutt attack, and Weta, who did Rise of the Planet of the Apes and King Kong, did the monkeys for us.

For those new to our site, we may have mentioned a few times that we are scary big fans of the Lord of the Rings. This news almost made us pass out on the floor as if the most handsome man in the world were to say "hey" to us on the street.

For those who are wondering, "What's WETA"? Here's a recap of what is one of, if not THE BEST and most impressive VFX company. They have won academy awards for all three Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and Avatar. They also are responsible for Rise of the Planet of the Apes which was nominated for an Oscar last year. That film was renown amongst the tech community for the impressiveness and realistic depiction of the apes.

So knowing that this world renown VFX company that has mastered the art of depicting monkeys will be doing the crazy monkey mutts for Catching Fire, we are just sitting here in awe. HOW LUCKY ARE WE?!

By the way, be sure to read the full interview with Francis Lawrence, it's got some cool details about Catching Fire!

Visit the FINAL STOP of The Hunger Games Costume Tour!

The last stop on Black Sparrow Auction's Hunger Games Costume Tour is at The Hollywood Show at the Westin Los Angeles Airport Hotel this Saturday and Sunday. They'll have a whole lot of costumes up for display at the show to gear up for the auction on November 16th.

Click here to see which costumes you will see at The Hollywood Show (hint: They're all the good ones!)

We also found out they will be holding a free raffle for a fancy auction catalog (which look super nice!) during the show.

This will be your last chance to see the costumes from the first film EVER! After that, all those lovely costumes will get new owners most likely never to be seen again in public. Keep in mind that the auction is DEFINITELY still worth checking out even if you are not a gajillionaire. They will be auctioning off everything, so there will probably be a chance for people to snag extra pieces. You never know how much something might go for!

So go ahead, run off to The Hollywood Show! Tickets are $20 at the door, and there's lots of other cool stuff to check out at the show as well!

EW Catching Fire Issues with Katniss, Peeta, Finnick, and Gale Covers

The new Catching Fire issue is here! It has four different covers and probably hits newsstands Friday. Or, if you are too impatient for that you can buy the digital copy NOW

These covers look pretty sweet, and we are definitely getting more psyched day by day as more Catching Fire promotion is being released. We notice many have been concerned over the Gale cover, it's possible it is just the arena background to match all the other covers.  Unless....he's part of the rescue mission? We think the most logical option is that it's just for the sake of matching covers. Check out what Entertainment Weekly had to say about the new issue:

In this week’s cover story, EW goes deep — deep into a Hawaiian jungle, that is, for an exclusive visit to the set ofThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The highly anticipated sequel, in which Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) pays dearly for sparking unrest in Panem, doesn’t hit theaters until Nov. 22 (though advance tickets went on sale today). But we’ve got all kinds of reporting to whet your appetite. Plus, Katniss, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson),  Gale (Liam Hemsworth), and Finnick (newcomer to the franchise Sam Claflin) all get their own collectible covers.
After a special report from the sweltering set in Hawaii, we head to Santa Monica, where EW reconvened the stars — along with new director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson — for a rollicking conversation about the new movie. Among the subjects? Everything from the decision to “man up” Peeta’s character for the movie to Lawrence’s spectacular fall in Katniss’ wedding dress while the cameras were rolling. The filmmakers also talk about creating new scenes for Plutarch Heavensbee (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman), and actress Jena Malone talks about the thrill of playing the ax-wielding tribute Johanna Mason. Despite the easy camaraderie of the crew, everyone took seriously their mission to respect the pained heart of author Suzanne Collins’ sequel. “In every scene we asked ourselves, ‘How would these people feel if they came back to the Hunger Games,’” says Jacobson. “What happens when you come back from these experiences of war, not what happens in a movie when you’ve kicked a lot of ass?”
